Ours just happens to have four legs, wet noses and an opinion on absolutely everything.
Meet Matey and Cleo, our much loved New Zealand Huntaway sheepdogs and the original Quality Controllers at Dog Mats by Ezeekiel. If a mat didn’t pass the “curl up, stretch out, snooze, travel, roll over and do it all again” test, it simply wasn’t good enough.
Our story began with a simple idea- we couldn’t find quality mats that gave our own dogs the comfort they deserved, especially for the larger breeds. So we made them ourselves.
Those first custom made quilted mats travelled everywhere. They rode in the car, visited favourite people, came on holidays, protected beds, and were washed…and washed…and washed again. Into the washing machine. Into the dryer. Back on the floor for another nap. Thanks to our industrial quilting process, they kept their shape, softness and quality, no matter what life-or two big dogs-threw at them.
Today, every custom dog mat, bed dog mat and bandana is still made with the same purpose: to give dogs a comfortable place that feels like home, wherever they are.
Whether your best mate is a tiny puppy, a gentle old soul or one of the big beautiful breeds that so often get overlooked, we believe every dog deserves the very best. That’s why every mat is handcrafted from quality cotton, professionally quilted, strongly bound, machine washable, dryer friendly, and customised with your dog’s embroidered name. We can even make it to the size that suits your dog perfectly.
Our mats fold up easily for travel, because adventures are always better when your dog has a familiar place to rest.
The funny thing is…people think they are buying one of our mats.The dogs know better.They’re choosing their favourite place in the world to curl up.
Our products are produced in small quantities, and some are true one-off creations. This means you’ll often find limited edition fabrics and handmade pieces that cannot be replicated once they are gone.
Customised mats are made to specific size, material and dog’s name and are therefore one off creations.
🪡 …And Meet Rosalie
Rosalie has always loved sewing and quilting and when she retired she purchased a commercial long arm Gammill quilting machine enabling production of high quality quilting. She loves her Gammill quilting machine almost as much as she loves her New Zealand Huntaways, and anyone who knows her understands that’s saying something.
A passionate quilter with an eye for detail, Rosalie believes that quality matters. From selecting fabrics and patterns to the final stitch, she takes pride in creating pieces that are one off custom made creations that are not only beautiful but also robust enough to become part of everyday family life.
For Rosalie, quilting is about more than making products. It’s about creating something that will be loved, used, and treasured for years to come.
Giving back to the community is something close to Rosalie’s heart. She is an active memberof Sunshine Linus Inc, a not-for-profit organisation whose volunteers create quilts and other comforting items for people experiencing difficult times across the wider Sunshine Coast.
Rosalie happily volunteers her time and her Gammill longarm quilting machine, joining a wonderful team of caring women who believe that something handmade can offer warmth, comfort and hope when it’s needed most. Visit the Sunshine Linus website to learn more about the wonderful work they do.
